There is just something about the promise of a new yarn! The wrist warmers for my mom are officially in the hands of the postal service, and my hands have the privilege of starting a new project with Knitting for Olive‘s silk mohair and cotton merino.
My only progress so far is a gauge swatch on size US 7 needles, but I am already in love with the resulting fabric. The soft hazy mohair feels so luxurious, and I can’t wait to wear this future garment.
There’s just one problem…
I can’t quite decide what to make! When I purchased this yarn, I was going to make the Late Summer Wrap from Knitting for Olive’s pattern library. Now that I’m making the swatch, I fear that this pattern isn’t quite classic enough. I can already imagine wanting to wear it constantly, so a timeless, everyday garment seems necessary.

So, I’ve been considering a change in plans for this beautiful yarn. The potential seems endless, but of course, the yarn supply is not. I have 4 balls of each yarn, which was the suggested amount for a size small in this wrap cardigan. I’m hopeful that will be true for another sweater style (seems logical, right?), but I haven’t landed on an alternate pattern yet.
I still love the late summer wrap, and if I can’t find an alternative that excites me, I’ll stick with the original plan. In the meantime, I’m on the hunt for the perfect sweater pattern. Suggestions welcome!
