The hate gets more powerful with more hate. The only thing that is more powerful than hate is love.

Sometimes, when life overwhelms, I find myself frozen. Stuck in an indecisive panic, unsure what to do. Recently, I haven’t known how to continue this blog in light of the chaos of living in the U.S. in 2026. I’ve been lost somewhere between fight or flight, and my voice has felt lost too. But, writing is a comfort, and this blog is meant to be a place of simple joy, found in simple moments.
And so, I’ve decided to return, in the same way that I have always attempted to show up – with an honest portrayal of what I am learning about myself through the slow practice of an heirloom craft like knitting.
As many are retreating indoors from winter storms, my tropical location has also reached chilly temperatures. In truth, I welcomed the opportunity to add a quick and chunky project into my week’s knitting plans. With a Michael’s as my closest option, I chose Lion Brand Wool-Ease thick & quick in “Grass” green from the limited quantities available.

Equipped with a free raglan cardigan pattern (always my favorite sweater-making construction), I pulled out the Size US 13 needles and got to work.
Three and a half days. Two seasons of British Bake-Off. Four hours of Sunrise on the Reaping (one of the prequels to The Hunger Games). And voila! I made a cardigan with pockets and a little flower embroidery detail (inspired by this quick tutorial)!
As the chunky green cardigan grew, I began to think of it as the “Frozen Iguana Cardigan,” a nod to how iguanas can suddenly drop from trees due to their cold-blooded nature. (A fact I never knew prior to living in the Sunshine state!)
I finished just in time to snuggle into this cozy cardigan for the weekend. Thankfully, I’m a little less frozen, warmed by the sweater I produced and comforted by the return to my safe space.
