Rest and Reset

It has been two weeks since my last post! My recent attention has been on other life endeavors, like some job hunting, rather than knitting and blogging. So, while I have a pair of wrist warmers (a project for my mother) on the needles, I have made slow progress, with little to report.

The time away has been well-spent, with time for rest and reflection as I work toward finding my footing for what’s ahead. But at the end of the day, knitting is a calming activity, and sharing my progress is a rewarding one for me, with similar benefits to journaling. So, I’m hopeful that my mind will be able to manage this creative endeavor alongside navigating possible paths for my career.

With that said, the wrist warmer project for my mom has also limited my enthusiasm recently. I liked the pattern I chose from the TKGA free pattern library for members, but the yarn has not been ideal for the cable pattern, mainly because of its loose twist and unraveling ply. The yarn is Gisimo Merino Wool (6-Ply) in light gray. While it is nice and squishy, I don’t think I’ll buy this one again.

As a result of the finicky yarn, I am on the verge of frogging and just doing a simple 2×2 ribbing and losing the cable panel. I’m never a fan of frogging, even when it is the best choice, so I’ve delayed this decision for days and have just stared at the unfinished project in the basket instead.

The procrastination time has truly come to an end though, especially as the weather begins to turn. I’d like to finish these for her before the end of the month so that she can have them for this fall/winter.

Sometimes, you have to take a step back to go forward…
