Inspiration on a Budget

This weekend, we biked to the park. Actually, we have electric tricycles, so we “triked,” if that’s a word. The tricycles have a nice trunk, so I get to bring all of my hobbies (and snacks) along for the ride. The typical haul includes anything I need for my current knitting project plus books, journals, or sketchpads, depending on my mood.

On this particular voyage, I packed my Tip Top Tank and my iPad, with only knitting on my mind. After spending the first 45 minutes on my project and listening to the beautiful birdsong from the trees overhead, I switched to magazine-reading on the iPad.

I’m always on the lookout for free knitting resources, particularly since low-cost is one of the things that has kept knitting in my lifetime hobby list, and I’ve recently learned that my local library’s digital resources include a few knitting magazines (like Simply Knitting). So, I spent the afternoon browsing the latest issue, while munching on a honeycrisp apple.

To me, magazines offer a simple way to find inspiration. There are so many places to find knitting patterns online, but I get a little overwhelmed with endless scrolling through possibilities. Furthermore, I find myself just wanting to enjoy browsing patterns alongside articles and advertisements that are also knitting-focused.

I’m looking forward to checking out a few knitting books using the library’s app as well. Ultimately, I want to keep my budget low and my inspiration high!

Where do you find your knitting inspiration?

I have a couple of notebooks of patterns Iโ€™ve printed out over the years that Iโ€™ll browse through for a pattern. I also find a lot on Ravelry. I like that because I can find a pattern based on my yarn stash.

That’s a great idea! I love Ravelry, especially for finding something specific!
