Hip Hip Hooray for Christmas Vacay!

My final gift knits are on the needles, and my to-do list of holiday prep has dwindled. The week ahead will be filled with family, traditions, and sweet new memories. My favorite holiday movies will be playing in the background, and hot chocolate will flow.

We all have our list of favorite holiday tales, and before I take a break to enjoy the festivities, I thought I would share the must-see holiday movies in my home.

This holiday season, I’ll be knitting along to these classics (in my opinion, anyway):

  • It’s A Wonderful Life! (My all-time favorite!)
  • National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (The inspo for this blog title, by the way, and my personal favorite of the Christmas comedies.)
  • A Christmas Story (This one grew on me over the years.)
  • Love Actually (Not necessarily traditional, but heartwarming and set during the Christmas season.)
  • Elf (“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”)
  • Home Alone (“Keep the change, ya filthy animal.”)

If there’s time, I may also watch stop-motion animations, like Rudolph. And, I already managed to sneak in White Christmas and The Grinch yesterday, while working on a colorwork cowl (seen in the featured image of this post).

Here’s hoping these movies propel my final Christmas gift stitches in the next few days! If the movies don’t do it, the sugar intake likely will!

Good luck to all of the knitters out there who chose to make presents for others. May your hands be strong & swift, your knits soft & cozy, and your recipients appropriately wowed by your generosity and skill!
